With a BVD – PI incidence rate of less than 1 out of 100 in the average group of animals, livestock producers are truly looking for the proverbial needle in a haystack. For this reason, accuracy and proficiency of sampling procedures is critical to conducting a successful BVD screening program. A “Best Practices” approach is a must in order to assure reliable information and return value for your investment in the cost of BVD lab diagnostic procedures. It all starts with proper tissue sampling procedures at the farm or ranch.

When the lab identifies a sample as coming up positive for BVD, the digital file sharing software is programmed to automatically identify the farm location or grouping of animals, the ear tag color and the ear tag I.D. number on the positive PI animal.
